"I am a young emerging artist that loves to explore new mediums and subject matter; I have recently found a growing fascination for working with Highly Saturated Acrylic paints and palette knife techniques and am currently studying both with great enthusiasm.
I am drawn to creating mostly figurative works; the themes can vary quite wildly but are greatly influenced by my surrounding environments. Whether that be a cosy day at home, being surrounded by people in the city, or taking a walk along a deserted beach, they all influence the final creations; whether it be through the colours that are chosen, subject matter, or even just my movement when painting. I am in love with intensity and emotion is expressed through the canvas and creating an experience for the viewer to share my experiences and explore new depths in a very traditional method of painting."
Naomi, born 1989, lives and works in Brisbane Australia. She creates fine art acrylic paintings that are often highly saturated with colour and created using palette knives leaving distinctive marks on the canvas. Naomi defines her style as a reinterpretation of contemporary art through an innovative understanding that echoes the essence of today’s culture and exploring the intersection between physical and mediated space, using painting as a medium for broader social commentary. Her distinctive style emerges through the intense study of completing her Diploma and Bachelor of Visual Arts in three years. Her ability to create these paintings in a relatively short space of time and allow the observer can tangibly sense the embedded movement and expression.
